Supervisory Position

Occupies a supervisory position involving the direction of a shift, consisting of correctional officers assigned to various posts and/or programs. Responsible for carrying out the directions of the Captain relative to planning, directing and administering inmate programs, activities, work and recreational pursuits. Serves as a direct liaison between the Captain and correctional officers, and as such is responsible for the conduct, morale, performance and training of the correctional officer complement. Authorizes changes in institutional operations when necessary to meet emergency situations. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
