GENERAL CUSTODIAN

JOB DESCRIPTION : To maintain the school buildings and efficient management of the facility as to usefulness, appearance, safety hazards, cleanliness and minor repairs not requiring skilled tradesman. Other job-related duties will be assigned. The custodian will perform all duties of the position within the scope of Pleasant Grove ISD Policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. High school graduate or equivalent. A transcript must be provided within 30 days of employment.
2. Can provide written references that verify dependability and relevant past work experience.
3. Has knowledge of and can demonstrate general custodial skills.
4. Demonstrates ability to organize time well (self-starter).
5. Physically able to do required work which could include some heavy and sustained lifting, squatting, bending, stooping, carrying, possible climbing of ladders, and other functions that are physically difficult and demanding.
6. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
7. Able to get along with others (students, staff, parents) and communicate effectively.
8. Demonstrate competency to read, write, follow directions and perform basic math computations.
9. Demonstrated ability to present a positive image for the school district and willing to follow District policies and procedures.
10. Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be a self-starter and self-disciplined.

1. Accomplish all tasks in a professional manner.
2. Secure building.
3. Conduct regular inspections of the facility and report needed repairs to the Camus admin in or the Facilities Coordinator.
4. Set up for special programs.
5. Perform general labor as needed: i.e. moving equipment, desks, tables, etc.
6. Perform related duties as assigned.
7. Work cooperatively with students, teachers and administrators.
8. Possess basic operational knowledge of and ability to operate custodial equipment.
9. Performs all duties of the position within the scope of Pleasant Grove ISD District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.

1. Use power equipment and hand tools such as shovel, broom, mop, squeegee, buffer, polisher, and vacuum required for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, wall, carpets and furniture including painting.
2. Clean and sanitize toilets, shower rooms and fixtures.
3. Empty wastebaskets and trash containers.
4. Dust furniture and light fixtures.
5. Sweep, mop and polish floors. Wash windows.
6. Replaces, tissue and other restroom supplies.
7. Clean sidewalks and keep driveway and campus litter free.
8. Perform all other related duties as assigned by supervisor pertaining to job classification.
9. Any other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Administrator, or the Facilities Coordinator.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
