Phlebotomy Technician Opportunity – Akeroyd Blood Donor Center Location: Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX Company: U.S. Got People (USGP) U.S. Got People (USGP) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at the Akeroyd Blood Donor Center located on Fort Sam Houston. Position Benefits: Competitive Pay: $18.53/hour health & welfare stipend Comprehensive Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401(k) Paid Time Off & Sick Leave Work Schedule: Clinic Hours: Sunday – Saturday, 4:30 AM – 4:30 PM Typical Shift: 4:30 AM – 1:00 PM (30-minute lunch) One weekend shift per month based on blood drive needs No more than 40 hours per week Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited Donor Phlebotomy Training Program, such as those recognized by: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) National Certification Agency (NCA) The Joint Commission or CAP Military-equivalent training programs Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomy Technician within the past 2 years Must have completed at least 50 successful donor collections or patient venipunctures in a qualified facility (e.g., blood bank, plasma center, dialysis center, or hospital) Certification: Must hold current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician or Donor Phlebotomy Technician from: ASCP, AMT, or Other agency approved by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD-HA) Immunization Requirements (Must be current or obtained before start) Hepatitis B (series and titer) Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Varicella (Chickenpox) TB test Seasonal Influenza vaccine COVID-19 vaccine (if applicable) Key Responsibilities Duties may include but are not limited to: Registering donors in the blood bank system Conducting health history assessments for blood donors (volunteer, autologous, therapeutic, apheresis) Collecting and documenting sensitive medical information through interviews Performing blood draws and handling donor blood collection tubing with automated sealing devices Weighing blood components and recording data accurately Processing blood to create packed red blood cells, plasma, and other products using manual or automated systems Cleaning and maintaining equipment and monitoring inventory levels Performing daily quality control checks and equipment calibrations About USGP At USGP , we take pride in supporting veterans, service members, and their families.
