Position Summary:

The Director of Philanthropy, Texas will be tasked with executing HAF's philanthropy vision by 1) strengthening its existing donor base 2) reengaging lapsed donors and 3) cultivating new donors across the state of Texas. The DP will be responsible for regular in person meetings with current donors and prospective donors in Texas. The DP will work closely with local teams to further established galas as well as organize smaller fundraising events throughout the state. This position is based in Texas.

Essential Duties:

The ideal candidate will be outgoing, excel in sales closing, creative in generating leads, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team with a strong work ethic and dependability. The successful candidate will be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Cultivate donor prospects through virtual AND in person meetings throughout the state of Texas.
  • Solicit, secure, and follow up on financial commitments to the foundation.
  • Research and qualify potential donors based on interests, engagement, and giving capacity.
  • Support year-end, seasonal giving, and planned giving campaigns.
  • Partner with the local Texas volunteer teams and Director of Events to coordinate fundraising events and galas.
  • Drive event attendance through personalized outreach and donor engagement.
  • Represent HAF at strategic stakeholder events.
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy Coordinator to maintain accurate donor records.
  • Assist in creating data dashboards to measure performance and impact.

Required Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business administration, marketing, public relations, accounting, finance, economics, non-profit management, philanthropy studies, psychology, sociology, or related field. Masters degree is a plus, but not required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of fundraising, development, advancement, or sales experience in a mission-driven organization.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in platforms such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Excel, and online collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Zoom, Slack).
    • Experience with CRM systems, like Salesforce, and event management systems, like Classy; willingness to learn new donor management platforms is essential.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, organization, and self-direction.
    • Demonstrated success in relationship building, leads generation, and sales closing skills.
    • Deep commitment to advancing the organization's mission and fostering collaborative success beyond personal recognition.
    • Established network of contacts within local Indian and Hindu American communities and familiarity with local community dynamics.
    • Working knowledge of India, Indic languages, and Hindu teachings, practices, and traditions, is a plus, but not required.
