Job Summary

Reliability Engineering focuses on developing, coordinating, and conducting technical reliability studies on engineering designs to assess the likelihood that a product/process performs its intended function over the lifecycle. This includes measuring and analyzing the reliability of design, materials, processes, and final products; recommending design or test methods and statistical process control procedures; completing risk analysis studies of new designs and processes; and undertaking testing and analysis on failures to propose design or formulation changes to improve system and/or process reliability.

  • Direct, leverage, and guide the work of others, and mobilize resources.
  • Leaders typically manage two or more direct reports.
  • Monitor and achieve operational and/or financial results for the area of responsibility.
  • Manage people through actions such as hiring, terminating, rewarding, training, and developing employees.
  • Progression within levels reflects increases in scope and responsibilities, combined with business, process, and people leadership capabilities and broad technical expertise.
  • Manage experienced professionals and/or supervisors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
  • Often head one or more sections or a small department; adapt departmental plans and priorities to meet short-term challenges.
  • Work on issues of diverse scope; analyze situations or data requiring evaluation of multiple factors, including concepts, theories, and principles within the discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines.
  • Solve problems following operational policies and understand the broader impact across the department; act as adviser to subordinates to meet schedules and resolve technical problems.
  • Apply understanding of the business and how the area of responsibility integrates with other areas to achieve department objectives.
  • Interpret and administer policies, processes, and procedures that may affect sections and subordinate work units.
  • Develop and administers schedules and performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities.
  • Assignments are defined by activities and objectives; work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Decisions impact work processes and outcomes; errors in judgment may cause delays or resource expenditures.
  • Interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels; participate and present at meetings with internal and external representatives to resolve operational and scheduling issues.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or related work experience required in lieu of degree.

Pay Range

$104,325 - $139,100
