The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for supporting the company's global procurement activities, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials, components, and services. This role focuses on supplier identification, relationship management, cost analysis, and ensuring that all procurement activities align with the company's operational and strategic objectives. The Sourcing Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to develop detailed cost models for new job opportunities.

The Sourcing Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain to support the company's manufacturing operations as well as fast and accurate cost modeling to support customer requests and company growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify qualified suppliers globally to meet company needs for quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Conduct RFQs (Request for Quotations) and RFPs (Request for Proposals) to evaluate suppliers' capabilities and competitiveness.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts in alignment with company objectives and policies.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, logistics, and finance teams to align sourcing activities with production schedules and business goals.
  • Provide support to the Purchasing Manager in developing and executing sourcing strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and delivery performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance using established metrics (quality, delivery, cost, and service) and address any issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on improvement initiatives to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Work cross functionally to develop fast and accurate cost models for new job opportunities, including material, labor, overhead, and capital expenses. Identify supplier opportunities and procure vendor quotes for new items.
  • Maintain and refine cost models to ensure accurate product pricing aligned with company margin targets.
  • Support make/buy analysis for new items to determine the most cost-effective sourcing strategy.
  • Monitor cost variances from initial estimates and identify opportunities for improvement in future cost projections.
  • Perform cost analysis and market benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies to reduce costs while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support the development of contingency plans to address supply disruptions or changes in market conditions.
  • Ensure all sourcing activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and international trade regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and performance evaluations.
Required Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or related.
  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working with international suppliers is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience with product costing or cost accounting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement tools; advanced skills in Excel and data analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier and manufacturing sites.
