Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing patrol and security work at a City facility or related area. Exercises no supervision.Work Location100 Montana Street San Antonio, TX 78203Work Schedule1st Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AMShiftwork, holidays, weekends asneededMay have adjusted schedules and additional hours.ResponsibilitiesPatrols assigned areas to eliminate or report fire hazards, deter thefts, vandals, or violence.Takes necessary action to detain or prevent entry by unauthorized persons.Checks buildings, facilities and equipment fixtures and as necessary reports on conditions by often touring, moving about and observing.Monitors and maintains station at entry/exit point to City activities.Provides information and directions to customers and the general public.Maintains activity logs using office equipment and communicates or dispatches through the use of a two-way radio.Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.Preferred QualificationsTexas Security Guard licenseExperience with call and/or radio dispatchingExperience with incident report writingSecurity experience at a large facility or event venueMinimum RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).One (1) year experience as a Security Guard or security related experience.Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.Applicant InformationIf selected for this position, official transcripts, diplomas, certifications and licenses must be submitted at the time of processing. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
